Week 2

Week 2
Well we have been off to a great start and are almost done with week 2!!!  Mommy has made the decision to pump exclusively.  My goal is to get you to 12 weeks!!  I figure if I put it in writing I can see the goal!!  You are doing wonderful, almost to your birth weight, weighing in at 7 lbs 1.4 oz as of 10/24/12.  Your bilirubin levels are continuing to decline, and no more sticks.  We go back to Dr. Tsang at 4 weeks!!  Dr. Laforge has been covering for Dr. Tsang and she was very impressed with your progress!!  You are still a little curled up but with some stretching, you have already started to straighten up.  We are so proud of you.  You are a napper, unlike your sister Corryn.

Week 2 with Corryn
Corryn, you absolutely love your baby brother!  You have been going to Yaya's this week.  All you talk about it is your little brother.  I have been keeping track of your funny comments.  As tired as daddy and I are you always manage to bring a smile to our faces and even make us laugh out loud the majority of the time.

First week

10/14/12---Abram is born at 11:04 PM!!  Nana Diane came to visit
10/15/12---We had quite a few visitors--Papa David, Big Sister Corryn---she was sooo excited came to meet you with Sarah and Nana, Aunt B and Andrew came--
--Grandma and Grandpa Ewertz came, Aunt Sarah
--You did well with nursing, but it took forever for the pediatrician to come see you
--The pediatricdian Dr. Hedlum-thought she heard a click in your hip so we had to schedule to see Dr. Tsang in 2-3 days.  She really made mommy nervous, by over reacting
--They checked your bilirubin and PKU.  We needed less than an 8 bilirubin to get out of the hospital
10/16/12---DADDY'S BIRTHDAY-We had to wait forever for Dr. Douthit to release us, the nurse wouldn't listen to mommy and just call him.  Your bilirubin came in at a 7.4, so we got to go home and you only had lost an oz since birth.  THEN WE WENT HOME TO BIG SISTER CORRYN
10/17/12---We just hung out at home adn took Abram to see Devin (Mobley) Vrana.  Mommy wanted her to look at your hip
10/18/12---DOCTOR appt-Dr. Tsang was out so we saw Dr. Laforge.  She was very nice and could tell mommy was very nervous.  Bilirubin was measured again and Dr. Laforge actually felt a slight click in the other hip, and there was no displacement!!!  YAY!!!  But yoru weight had dropped significantly
--We saw Devin again
--We got the call that your bilirubin was nearly doubled, so a bili blanket was prescribed, but insurance was a pain and we finally got the blanket almost 6 hours later.  As soon as we started pushing bottles you started pooping, YAY!!!!  The bili blanket helped too and you started to wake up and be more active and poop more!!!  Of course mommy was still very nervous.
10/19/12---we went back for a blood draw and got the call that your darn numbers were elevated more=(  We were to focus on hydration and wearing the bili blanket.  You did truly already look at act better but it was scary anyway.  Lacation called and of course made mommy nervous because she told me some babies are admitted with high bilirubins of 18.  Dr. Laforge said we were heading in the right direction.
10/20/12---Saturday-we are still attached to the wall with the blanket but you are still doing better and still supplementing with breast milk.
--Mommy's boss Rob Manske, his wife Julie and son Tyler brought you the cutest GAP outfits
10/21/12---Newborn pics at the house--you peed and pooped on everything!!!  But they looked they are going to be AWESOME
--we then went to Nana and Papa's for turkey and gravy.  Mommy was a little stressed and snippy with everyone.  Daddy forgot to bring you a new cover for the light and of course you peed on it, so he had to get a new one.Dinner was awesome!
10/22/12--Another blood draw and daddy returned to work.  Big sister Corryn went to Brenda's.  Your weight is back up to 6 lbs 10 oz and then mommy finally got the call you were discharged from the blanket!!!
--Mommy and Abram went to lacation and got some advice-mommy is hoping you will go back to pumping but time will tell.

Abram you blessed us with your presence at 36 weeks and 4 days!!  You had been giving momma contractions for 2 weeks prior to your appearance.  When I went to see Dr. Douthit on 10/2/12 I was dilated to a 3 and effaced to 80%.  Dr. Douthit was not worried just concerned that if my water broke we would not make it to the hospital.  So momma and daddy were nervous about what to watch for.  So for the next 2 weeks, momma just relaxed worked and laid around.  But the weekend you were born, mom had scheduled a surprise 30th party for daddy and daddy was running a 1/2 marathon.  Mommy was feeling good, she tried to get in to see Dr. Douthit on Friday the 10/12, but he was out of the office.  After daddy's party, Sat was low key and we prepared for daddy's race.  He did awesome!!!  Almost making his goal of under 2 hours.  He run it in 2 hours and 4 minutes.  Mommy sad to daddy on the way to Nana and Papa's ok guess we have accomplished everything on the calendar we can have a baby. so at Nana and Papa's mommy laid around and wanted to go home.  After 2 hours of contractions 5-7 minutes apart, Mommy called the doctor and the nurse said that I was already an hour behind and needed to get to the hospital.  Nana and Aunt B came and got Corryn and we were off.  Mommy was positive they would send us home.  But they observed us FOREVER!!!  We checked in at 1:45 PM Sunday 10/14.  After an hour, we had made progress and were dilated to a 4, then we took a break and nothing happened.  Still registering contractions they observed for an hour.  They tried to stop the contractions with Tylenol and benadryl.  This made the contractions stronger.  The resident was going to try a different medication and mommy made sure they got ahold of Dr. Douthit to  see if he was in town.  He had promised to be there if he was in town and we had not talked about stopping anything.  At this point I had progressed to 5-6 and was staying.  Although mommy kept asking if there was a possibility if they would send us home.  The said NO.  Aunt B came and we hung out while mommy had contractions.  Epidural was given at 8:45 PM and we just waited.  Dr. Douthit came up and everything was smooth from then on out. Everything was very calm.  I pushed a few times and you came out with your face up so you had some bruising but Dr. Douthit pulled you out and covered up you little wiener so we couldn't tell if you were a boy or a girl!!!  He said, "Got one more guess?"  Not going to lie I was still  a little surprised you were a boy!!!  Daddy, Mommy and Big Sister Corryn are so excited about you and love you to the moon and back!!!
